Excerpt from the episode “Vincent and the Doctor” (S05E10) – Doctor Who.
The Doctor: In a hundred words, where do you think van Gogh rates in the history of art?
Dr. Black: Big question, but… to me, van Gogh is the finest painter of them all; certainly the most popular great painter of all time; the most beloved; his command of colour the most magnificent. He transformed the pain of his tormented life into ecstatic beauty. Pain is easy to portray, but to use your passion and pain to portray the ecstasy and joy and magnificence of our world… no one had ever done it before… Perhaps no one ever will again. To my mind that strange wild man who roamed the fields of Provence was not only the world’s greatest artist, but also one of the greatest men who ever lived.
This is honestly one of the most beautiful works of art in television history. I get choked up every time I watch it. Amazing! Splendid!

Here’s a close up photo of the sunflower painting I did for my wife for Christmas (You can view it in a higher resolution if you actually view it on my tumblr page…follow me while you’re at it!). I worked pretty hard and spent about 4 hours on it. I tried to be detailed, but after 4 hours my hands got a little shaky during the white highlighting process lol. I’m really, really happy they did, though. I hate for things to look perfect.
I’d love to know your thoughts. I work well with criticism.

Here’s the photo I promised to post of the sunflower I painted for my beautiful wife!! I think its one of my favorites.
This is one of my abstract art pieces. I always see a dragon. I don’t know why. I call it ‘The Fallen.’ It’s for sale. I’d like to get at least $100. Just cause Christmas is around the corner and it could help with the bills that are due…..and blah, blah, blah.
